Harrier Diaries
For this project I am working on a book inspired by observation of hen harriers over a year.
This contains, poetry, prose, drawings (monotypes) and photographs.
Contact me if you would like an advanced print copy or on-line access.
There are various examples and related field recordings and a poetry reading below.

4th June
Slab after slab of rain,
drifting, somehow slower
than the driving westerlies
that batter the fresh stands of bracken.
During lulls he scours
for snipe or plover’s nests.
Heavy rain still falls.
Coming uphill, into the storm,
the dove-coloured falcon
lands at the brim precisely.
She snatches the prey from him
nd feeds her chicks small pieces.
The hatchlings shelter under
the brown gled’s spreading wings.
She settles, eyes half shut,
droplets roll down her shoulder blades.
