I am interested in narratives that consider non-human perspectives and how contemporary art practice using a range of media might inform this.
I am also interested in the different ways art and science understand the natural world. I think art and science are part of the same arc driven by an insatiable and on-going curiosity about the world and what it is to be in it.
I want to use art as a means to gain a deeper understanding of the world and, importantly, what it feels like to be in it. I aim to create things that are aids to thinking and sharing my thoughts with others. Unlike the scientific approach, I want the communication to be “fuzzy” – leaving room for chance, ambiguity and the stance of the viewer. I want to make bridges from the known to the unknown and from one conscious being to another.
In particular I want to apply these ideas to the perception of our environment How does our knowledge (history, legend and memories) conspire with our sensed experience to affect our perception. In turn how does our direct sensual experience inform our knowledge.
